IRVING, Texas —BYU landed seven women’s golfers – Kanyanol Aramkul, Whitney Banz, Maria Jose Barragan, Berlin Long, Lily McCauley, Ava Schroeder and Sunbin Seo on the Big 12 Spring All-Academic Team, the conference announced on Tuesday.
To be named to the Big 12 Spring Academic Team, student-athletes must maintain a 3.20 GPA or higher, either cumulative or over the two previous semesters, and must have participated in 20% of their team’s scheduled contests. Freshmen are not eligible, while transfers in their first year of academic residence are eligible. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria, except the percent of participation, are also eligible.
Freshmen Aadyn Long and Nya Palmer were also selected to the Big 12 Academic All-Rookie Team on Tuesday.
To earn Academic All-Rookie honors, each student-athlete must be a new, first-time/incoming freshman who has completed 24 credit hours of non-remedial coursework and achieved a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00. The student-athlete must have participated in at least one of their team’s scheduled contests and must have been a member of their respective team for their sport’s entire NCAA Championship segment.
BYU increased its number of academic honorees from four a year ago to nine in 2025-26.
Barragán was the No. 1 golfer for the Cougars in 2025-26, starting in 11 of 12 events, with a team-best scoring average of 73.66. The marketing major earned six top 25s, five top 15s and three top-10 marks on the season. Her best finish came in a tie for eighth at the Arizona Thunderbird Intercollegiate. She represented BYU at the NCAA Louisville Regional, finishing in a tie for 11th, one shot shy of an NCAA Tournament berth.
Aramkul, a pre-business major, appeared in nine events with a scoring average of 76.46. The sophomore earned three top 25 finishes, with her best result, a tie for 13th, coming at the Arizona Thunderbird Invitational. Banz, a junior majoring in exercise and wellness, notched two top-25 finishes in 11 events and posted a 76.84 scoring average.
Berlin Long, a junior majoring in experience design and management, appeared in four events for the Cougars. Her highest finish came at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational, as she finished tied for 26th.
McCauley turned in five top-25 marks in 11 events for BYU in 2025-26. The senior, who graduated in communications studies, earned her best finish at the Big 12 Championship with rounds of 73-72-73 to finish tied for 12th at 2-over-par.
Schroeder posted a 75.78 scoring average in her first action as a Cougar. The sophomore appeared in nine events, earning three top-25 marks, with an 8th-place finish at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational. The native of Twin Falls, Idaho, shot 75-72-72 for a 6-over total.
Seo did not make a start for the Cougars in 2025-26, but as a graduating senior, received Academic All-Big 12 honors due to meeting the GPA requirements.
Aadyn Long made one start during her freshman season, a 49th-place finish at the Branch Law Firm/McGuire Invitational.
Palmer also made one start during her freshman campaign, a tied-for-23rd finish at the Branch Law Firm/McGuire Invitational.
