POCATELLO, Idaho — Led by junior Gracie Levelston, BYU women’s tennis earned a 5–2 road victory over Idaho State Bengals on Saturday afternoon at the Idaho State Tennis Courts.
In doubles play, the Bengals struck first, sweeping all three courts to claim the opening point and take an early 1–0 lead. The Cougars responded capturing five of the six matches to secure the road win.
Levelston sparked BYU’s turnaround at the top of the lineup, battling past Millie Day at No. 1 singles in straight sets, 7-5, 6-3, to even the match at 1–1. The junior’s win set the tone for the remainder of the singles slate, as BYU quickly seized momentum across the courts.
At No. 2 singles, Kendall Kovick delivered a dominant effort, dropping just four games in a 6-0, 6-4 victory over Stefanya Shalakhova. Sue Yan Tan followed with another strong showing at No. 3, earning a 6-2, 6-4 win against Emmy Richards to give the Cougars a 3–1 advantage.
Yuyun Chen continued BYU’s run at No. 4 singles, cruising to a 6-0, 6-4 decision over Sydney Morris. Moments later, Bella Lewis clinched the match for the Cougars at No. 6, defeating Victoria Grymalska 6-2, 6-2 to secure BYU’s fifth point of the afternoon.
Idaho State picked up its second point at No. 5 singles, where Karina Mohamed fought through a tightly contested three-set match before falling to Veronika Zarovna, 6-0, 3-6, (8-10).
“Road wins are never easy, and our team showed great resilience and belief in each other,” BYU head coach Holly Hasler said. “Different players rose to the moment when needed, our energy was contagious, and the bonding on this trip made it even more special.”
