- Also recruited by the Air Force Academy, Utah Valley, Weber State and Southern Utah
Before BYU
- Starting quarterback for two years in high school
- Won the 2009 Utah 3A state championship in the javelin
- Personal best javelin mark was 197-07.00
- Earned fifth place at the 2010 Mountain West Conference Championships while competing for the Air Force Academy
- Also lettered in football, basketball and baseball
