- Daughter of Wayne and Carol Young
- Oldest of seven children
- Father competed for the U.S. men's gymnastics team at the 1976 Olympics and later coached men's gymnastics at BYU for 10 years
- Brother Guard also competed for the BYU men's gymnastics team
- Enjoys playing the guitar and piano, photo scrapbooks, listening to music, going dancing, spending time with family and sleeping
- Favorite event is floor
Before BYU
- Coached by Kenny Vinyard at Spirit of America in Oklahoma City
- Level 10 and Junior Elite gymnast
- Competed at the 1992 Level 9 state, regional and national meets
- Later competed at 1993 and 1994 Level 10 regionals
- Honor student and member of the National Honor Society at Putnam City High School
