BYU gymnastics competes in one of the premier collegiate venues in the country, the J. Willard Marriott Center, located on BYU’s Provo campus. With nearly 18,000 seats, the Marriott Center provides a truly electric atmosphere for Cougars gymnastics, offering one of the largest home crowds in collegiate gymnastics and a unique stage for high-level competition.

Originally opening in 1971, the Marriott Center is best known as the home of BYU basketball and a central gathering place for campus-wide events such as devotionals, forums, concerts, and commencements. Its scale, visibility, and energy make it a distinctive competitive environment in NCAA gymnastics, allowing BYU to showcase the sport on one of the biggest stages in college athletics.

Prior to the program’s move into the Marriott Center, BYU gymnastics competed in the historic George Albert Smith Fieldhouse. The Fieldhouse served as an intimate and energetic home venue for decades and remains an important part of BYU athletics history. However, as the program has grown, competition has transitioned fully into the Marriott Center to accommodate larger crowds and elevate the meet-day experience for fans and athletes alike.

Today, competing in the Marriott Center allows BYU gymnastics to consistently perform in a premier Division I environment, with enhanced visibility, expanded seating capacity, and an atmosphere that ranks among the best in the nation.

For gymnastics, the Fieldhouse also contains a training area in the southeast corner of the building. The room contains over 9,000 square feet of mats, pits, beams, bars and vaults. The facility has received many upgrades over the last few years: pit upgrades in 2015, tumbling trampoline in 2016, state-of-the-art camera system in 2017, new lights and carpet in 2018 and a vault runway in 2019. The gymnastics team competes in the Smith Fieldhouse for their meets and occasionally in the Marriott Center.
