- Daughter of Joe and Lori Emig. Father played lacrosse and mother ran track and field at BYU
- Middle of five children
- Married to David Broekman
- Enjoys cooking, swimming, diving, doing ceramics and watching NBA (Phoenix Suns) and college basketball
- Beam is her favorite event because "It's exciting, challenging and totally fun. I'm able to express my strengths and hide my weaknesses on beam."
Before BYU
- Coached by Roe Kreutzer, Kim Neal and Lisa Spini at the Arizona Twisters club in Tempe, Arizona
- Member of the U.S. National Team from 1992-1994
- Won the all-around titles at the Regional Elite Championships, the Winter Sun Invitational and the Cinco de Mayo tournament in 1993
- Finished second at the 1994 Friendship Invitational and third in the U.S. Classic in all-around
- Has been a demonstrator for the United States Gymnastic Federation, the Federation of International Gymnastics and U.S. Synchronized Swimming
- Has high scores of 9.85 (beam), 9.75 (floor and vault) and 9.65 (bars)
