PROVO, Utah--For the first time since August, BYU leaves the state of Utah to face unbeaten Houston at Reliant Stadium Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CDT.

Series

BYU and Houston meet for the first time in football Saturday. The blue Cougars have faced the red Cougars 17 times in other sports.

BYU is 6-1 vs. American Athletic Conference teams. BYU’s last game vs. an AAC opponent resulted in a 24-17 victory vs. UCF in Provo in 2011.

Offense

BYU ranks No. 13 in the nation in rushing offense with 263.0 yards per game earned on the ground. Houston ranks 26th in defensive rushing yards with 126.6 yards per game.

BYU has two players ranked in the top 20 nationally for rushing yards per game--Taysom Hill (19th) with 107.3 and Jamaal Williams (18th) with 108.6. 

Cody Hoffman tied Dennis Pitta for No. 1 in career receptions at BYU. He is tied for No. 2 at BYU for all-time career touchdown receptions and needs two more to become the leader in that category. He needs three more 100-yard receiving games to become the BYU leader in that category.

Defense

BYU’s defense has 12 players with 20 or more tackles in 2013, led by Uani ‘Unga’s 56. Kyle Van Noy has 40. Sixteen players have 10 or more tackles.

Kyle Van Noy has 26 career sacks, which is the second most nationally among active players. The senior needs eight more sacks this season to pass the career sack record at BYU (33).
