Stephenson, Van Noy, Hoffman earn All-America honors

PROVO, Utah - Three BYU football players, punter Riley Stephenson, linebacker Kyle Van Noy and wide receiver Cody Hoffman were recognized with various All-America honors today.

Stephenson earned second team accolades from both the Associated Press and SI.com. Van Noy picked up third team honors from the AP and an honorable mention from SI.com. Hoffman was also an SI.com honorable mention.

Stephenson, a Ray Guy Award semifinalist, was a defensive weapon for the Cougars with the second-best punting average in the nation at 47.31 yards per punt. The St. George product helped BYU to a No. 2 ranking in net punting at 42.15 yards. Stephenson was also named to the CBSSports.com All-America Second Team last week.

Van Noy, also a second-team CBSSports.com All-America honoree, led BYU in tackles for loss with 18.5 and sacks with 11.5. He is currently tied for No. 11 in the nation in tackles for loss and tied for No. 10 in sacks. The 6-foot-3, 235-pounder has been a playmaker on the Cougars' No. 3 ranked defense, allowing just 266.33 yards per contest.

Hoffman has caught a pass in 31 straight games and leads BYU in all receiving categories. Hoffman's 90 receptions are tied for No. 10 nationally, his 1,134 receiving yards are No. 18 and his 11 touchdowns are tied for No. 11. He is BYU's first 1,000-yard receiver since 2008.
