Day 1

AURORA, Ore. -- Kendra Dalton, Lea Garner and Brooklyn Anderson Hocker's top-20 finishes helped the BYU women's golf team to a fourth place finish at the Rose City Collegiate, Tuesday.

"I'm very pleased with how our girls played today," Cougar head coach Carrie Roberts said. "We continued to improve each round we played. It's great for us as a program to have three players finish in the top-20."

San Francisco, who finished Monday in first place (+5), shot one-over-par as a team on the day today, solidifying its first place position (+6).  The Dons set a total score tournament record of 871, and San Francisco's Vanessa Ha shot a record individual score of 210 in 54 holes of play. Fresno State fell to third place shooting six-over-par on the day and 11-over-par overall. The Cougars shot two-over-par Tuesday moving them past Nevada into fourth place. BYU shot just five-over-par as a team in the last two rounds of 18. The team finished at 19-over-par, with Nevada close behind at +20.

Dalton, a sophomore, ended the event in second place, making it her best individual finish at BYU. She finished in fourth place at the Mountain View Collegiate last season, and now has two career top-5 finishes. In addition to San Francisco's Ha, Dalton also posted a course low score of 213. Hocker had her best finish of her collegiate career finishing the Rose City Collegiate in 11th place overall. She shot two-under-par for the day and concluded the tournament at three-over-par. Senior Lea Garner birdied her last two holes played and shot two-over-par on the day. She finished tied for 17th place. Garner now has 22 top-20 finishes in her time at BYU.

"Kendra had a great tournament," Roberts said. "It's no surprise she performed as well as she did. She's a great player. It's just a matter of time before she finishes in first place."

Freshman Rose Huang finished her second collegiate tournament tied for 27th place, while teammate Alexandra White recorded a 50th place finish. Senior Carly Oldroyd, who competed individually, ended the event tied for 55th.

The Cougars will continue competing next week Oct. 5-7 at the Aggie Invitational in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
