BYU women's golf claims 11th-place finish at Minnesota Invitational

WOODBURY, Minn. — Led by a 26th-place individual finish from Kendra Dalton, BYU women’s golf placed 11th at the Minnesota Invitational held at Prestwick Golf Club on Tuesday.

“Looking over our stats, we made a lot of birdies,” BYU head coach Carrie Roberts said. “Also, our par 5 scoring was really good. This is one of the stronger fields that we will face this season, and the Minnesota Invitational is one of the strongest of all college events.”

The Cougars finished seventh in the field in birdies and par 5 scoring. On Tuesday, BYU fired a 6-over round as a team, and shot 12-over for the tournament.

Kendra Dalton, who was tied for 33rd place on Monday, finished tied for 26th place. Dalton fired a 72 on Tuesday to shoot +1 through 54 holes. 

Anna Kennedy carded 73 on Tuesday, in addition to firing 76-69 in rounds one and two. Kennedy finished in 31st place at +2. 

Annie Yang and Rose Huang finished in 50th and 55th place, respectively, while freshman Naomi Soifua tied for 59th place.  

Competing as an individual, Aiko Leong carded 72-73-74 to finish the tournament at +3. 

BYU women's golf will continue its 2017-18 campaign at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate in Knoxville, Tennessee, on Sept. 18-19.
