SAN DIEGO – Women’s golf (293-290–583) is in fifth after the first two rounds of the San Diego State Classic at The Heights Golf Club on Monday.
Sophomore Maria Jose “MJ” Barragan stands in third after the opening rounds of the competition. Barragan started her day with momentum, carding five birdies on her front nine in the first round. Additionally, the Mexico native made up for two second round bogeys with an eagle on the par 5 hole 4. She finished the day 7-under, notching rounds of 68-69–137.
No. 1 Stanford (278-270–548) shot 28-under par to sit in first place leading into tomorrow. They are ahead of second place UNLV (283-290–573) by 25 strokes. Georgia (290-289–579) rounded out the top three.
Lily McCauley (72-75–147) sits tied for 19th after shooting 3-over. McCauley carded three birdies throughout her opening 36 holes.
Alexa Udom (77-72–149) finished her two rounds 5-over, while recording five birdies throughout her rounds. Kanyanol (Naji) Aramkul finished just behind Udom with rounds of 76-74–150.
Whitney Banz (77-79–156) stands in 53rd place after the opening 36 holes.
