LAHAINA, Hawaii – BYU (291) is tied for seventh after it shot 3-over in the first day of the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational at Ka’anapali Golf Course on Monday.
Maria Jose “MJ” Barragan is co-leading the individual field after the first round of competition. The Morelia, Mexico native shot a 4-under 68 to sit atop the leaderboard, highlighted by seven birdies, the most of any player in the event.
Mercer leads the competition with their 6-under 282. Oregon State and Washington weren’t far behind with their 5-under and 3-under to stand in second and third place. Sacramento State and Denver rounded out the top 5 with their 2-under 286.
Senior Alexa Udom stands tied for 38th. Udom shot a 1-over 73 in today’s round.
Lily McCauley and Lilly DeNunzio are each tied for 61st with their 3-over 75. DeNunzio made five birdies in today’s round.
Adeline (Anderson) Wach shot a 5-over 77 to stand tied for 78th.
BYU performed well on the par 3s, averaging 3.00 per hole to lead the competition.
