SAN FRANCISCO – The Cougars (299-293-291–883) and Maria Jose “MJ” Barragan won the USF Invitational at The Olympic Club on Tuesday.

“We were so excited to win at The Olympic Club,” head coach Carrie Roberts said. “It is a great feeling, especially with conference coming up next. MJ was clutch and I’m so proud of the girls for how they played today. They were tough when we needed it.”

Barragan earned her first-career win, finishing 1-over for the tournament with just one bogey in her final round. The Morelia, Mexico, native posted rounds of 72-73-69–214 and led the field with 42 pars.

UC Irvine finished in second place, two strokes behind BYU. Washington State, UC Davis and Nevada rounded out the top five.

Lily McCauley (74-72-76–222) finished tied for 12th. McCauley made seven birdies throughout the tournament, the seventh-most of any player.

Freshman Kanyanol (Naji) Aramkul finished tied for 19th, 12-over-par. This is the fourth time this season that Aramkul has placed in the top 25.

Adeline (Anderson) Wach tied for 23rd at 14-over-par. She posted rounds of 80-73-74–227, with her final round moving her up 10 spots in the standings.

Senior Alexa Udom finished tied for 26th at 15-over-par, just behind her teammate. Sunbin Seo, competing as an individual, tied for 40th.

Next, BYU will travel to Hockley, Texas, for the Big 12 Championship from April 15-17.
