CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – BYU is in seventh at 9-over par after the first day of the NCAA Charlottesville Regional at Birdwood Golf Course on Monday.
Alexa Udom led BYU on the first day with an even-par round. The senior recorded one birdie and one bogey over 18 holes. Her 16 pars were the most by any player in the field. Udom is tied for 11th.
No. 4 South Carolina is leading the team field after day one with their 7-under 277. UCLA is three strokes behind them to hold second place and No. 16 Ole Miss, No. 21 Florida and No. 11 Virginia rounded out the top five.
Kanyanol (Naji) Aramkul, Maria Jose “MJ” Barragan and Lily McCauley are each tied for 36th with their 3-over 74.
Adeline (Anderson) Wach sits tied for 43rd place with her 5-over 76.
BYU topped the field in par-3 scoring, averaging 3.00 strokes per hole.
