CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Cougars (293-296-299–888) finished in eighth place at the NCAA Charlottesville Regional on Wednesday afternoon.
Maria Jose “MJ” Barragan led the Cougars with an 8-over par finish. Barragan made 40 pars throughout the tournament, the fourth-most out of any player. The Morelia, Mexico native finished tied for 28th.
No. 4 South Carolina claimed the team title with their 2-under 850. No. 16 Ole Miss took second 11 strokes back and No. 11 Virginia, No. 21 Florida and UCLA rounded out the teams that will be advancing to the National Championship.
Junior Lily McCauley (74-76-73–223) finished tied for 30th.
Kanyanol (Naji) Aramkul and Alexa Udom each finished the tournament tied for 32nd with their 11-over 224. Aramkul made six birdies throughout the tournament. Adeline (Anderson) Wach finished in a tie for 43rd.
