Four Cougars named WGCA All-American Scholars

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Alexa Udom, Lily McCauley, Maria Jose “MJ” Barragan and Kanyanol (Naji) Aramkul were recognized as Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars, the organization announced Monday.

The WGCA honored 1,499 student athletes from 403 institutions. Honorees must hold a GPA of at least 3.50, must have competed in at least 50 percent of team events and must have been on the postseason roster.

Hailing from Portland, Udom earned a 3.63 GPA as a biology major. The senior recorded her best career finish at the Causeway Invitational, where she took fourth.

McCauley received a 3.50 in communication studies. The junior finished in the top 25 at three events this year, highlighted by a 12th place finish at the USF Invitational.

Sophomore Barragan is in the pre-business program, where she earned a 3.69. The Morelia, Mexico native finished in the top 10 at six tournaments this season, powered by a stroke average of 71.50.

In her freshman year, Aramkul earned a 3.59 as a pre-business major. Aramkul led BYU in the Big 12 Championship, after she finished in the top 15.
