PROVO, Utah – BYU women’s golf will start its 2025-26 season at the Dick McGuire Invitational at the UNM Championship Course in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Sep. 8-9.
“I love to compete in Albuquerque,” said head coach Carrie Roberts. “The course is similar to what we play, and it’s usually a place to score well. The girls are excited to get the season going and see what we can do.”
Seniors Lily McCauley and Whitney Banz will lead the way in veteran experience. Junior Maria Jose “MJ” Barragan gets the start after having 4 finishes in the top 5 and a USF invitational victory under her belt from last season. Sophomore Ava Schroeder will make her first collegiate start, and freshman Nya Palmer will make her debut. Freshman Aadyn Long will make her collegiate debut competing as an individual alongside sophomore Kanyanol “Naji” Aramkul.
BYU will be one of 15 teams competing in a field that includes host New Mexico, UNLV, South Alabama, Mercer, Long Beach State, Northern Arizona, California State-Fullerton, UTEP, Montana State, Washington State, California Poly, Sacramento State, Southern Mississippi and Fresno State.
The Cougars are set to play 36 holes, two 18-hole rounds, on Monday, Sep. 8. The final round on the par-72 course will be played on Tuesday, Sep. 9.
