ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Women’s golf (299-301–600) finds itself in ninth place after 36 holes of play in the Dick McGuire Invitational on Monday at University of New Mexico Championship Course.
Sacramento State (281-294–575) led the 15-team field by being the only team to shoot under par with one-under par. The Hornets were followed by South Alabama (293-286–579) and California State Fullerton (294-289–583) to round out the top three.
Whitney Banz is the best performing Cougar so far. Banz carded a 73-74–147 while sinking five birdies on the day to get to three-over par. The junior is tied for 18th overall going into the final round tomorrow.
Kanyanol (Naji) Aramkul shot 75-74–149 which put herself tied for 30th in the leaderboard. Three birdies on the day helped Aramkul stay in the top 30.
The Cougars finished tied for 39th at seven-over par are Ava Schroeder (76-75–151) and freshmen Nya Palmer (75-76–151) and Aadyn Long (77-74–151). Palmer sank four birdies while Schroeder and Long each holed three in the opening rounds.
Tied in the 44th spot at eight-over par are Maria Jose “MJ” Barragan and Lily McCauley. The birdie counters are four for McCauley and three for Barragan.
