Barragan in top 15, Cougars tied for tenth through Day 1 at Rainbow Wahine Invitational

LIHUE, Hawaii — BYU women’s golf recorded a 4-over 292 in the first round of the Rainbow Wahine Invitational at The Ocean Course at Hokuala on Monday. 

Maria Jose “MJ” Barragan was the best performing Cougar in round one with a 2-under-par 70 to put her in a tie for 12th. Barragan made three birdies in addition to just one bogey on her scorecard

Ava Schroeder sits tied for 17th at 1-under-par. This marks the sophomore’s first sub-par 18-hole round in her BYU career. 

Lily McCauley, through 18 holes, is tied for 57th at 3-over par. She led the team in birdies with four.

Kanyanol (Naji) Aramkul shot a 4-over-par round to sit in a tie for 70th. Whitney Banz currently sits at 6-over par and tied for 87th.
