GREENSBORO, N.C. — BYU men's swim ended this week’s competition in fifth place after three days at the Greensboro Athletic Center.

Prelims
The final prelims of the meet began with the 200 individual medley, with Tyler Edlefsen coming in fourth at 1:45.94, just .37 off his personal best. Next up was the 100 freestyle, where Max Kleinman took 12th. Kleinman hit the wall at 43.10, earning him the fourth-fastest 100 freestyle time in BYU history. That performance marked the fifth top-10 program performance of the meet for Kleinman.

The men’s team then competed in the 200 butterfly, where Jacob Ballard finished in 1:45.80, placing sixth.

Prelims concluded with the 200 backstroke. Bryce Broadhead was BYU’s top finisher in the event, coming in at 1:46.15 for 15th place. Broadhead’s time was a top-10 program finish, but he would later improve on it in the 200 backstroke finals.

Finals
The 1,650 freestyle opened finals, where Easton Mousser and Tanner Nelson took fourth and fifth. Nelson, who holds the fastest 1,650 freestyle time in BYU history, finished in 15:09.27. Mousser touched at 15:06.55, moving him into second all time at BYU in the event.

Edlefsen again led the Cougars in the 200 individual medley finals. Finishing in 1:46.57, he earned sixth place overall. Chas Jones and Will Bonnett also competed in the event.

Kleinman again took 12th in the 100 freestyle finals, clocking 43.45, and Joshua Reed finished close behind in 20th at 43.79. Ballard then improved on his preliminary time in the 200 butterfly, taking fifth at 1:45.44.

Two Cougars broke top-10 program records in the 200 backstroke finals. Broadhead improved on his prelim time, touching at 1:45.30, taking 13th and moving into fifth all time in the event at BYU. Jack Burke also moved into the top 10 with a time of 1:46.98, the 10th-fastest mark in program history.

The men’s team ended the Wolfpack Elite Invite in fifth with a total score of 948.
