PROVO, Utah — BYU women’s golf will cross the southern border for the Collegiate Invitational at Guadalajara Country Club presented by Babygrande Golf on Jan. 30-31.
“We are super excited to be starting the season in Mexico,” said head coach Carrie Roberts. “It’s a unique event, one that provides MJ the opportunity to compete in front of her family, and our team to gain valuable experience.”
The Cougars will be rolling out a lineup at the GCC that consists of senior Lily McCauley, Mexico native Maria Jose “MJ” Barragan, junior Whitney Banz and sophomores Kanyanol (Naji) Aramkul and Ava Schroeder.
There will be a 12-team field that includes Virginia, who will be hosting the tournament, Tulsa, Florida State, UTSA, Houston, TCU, Chattanooga, NC State, Colorado, Washington and Oklahoma State competing alongside BYU.
“Our main goal is to be our best and compete at our best,” Roberts said. “The girls are anxious to get back competing and into the swing of things”
The 54-hole event will be teeing off Friday at 7 a.m. to begin a 27-hole day, then the rest of the 27 holes will be played on Saturday. It will be broadcast on the Babygrande Golf live stream, and live scoring will be tracked on Scoreboard.
