GREENSBORO, N.C. — BYU moved from seventh into eighth place following the second day of competition at the Big 12 Championship.

Despite losing one spot on the scoreboard, BYU set three new top-10 times, with Brinley Knoll earning the seventh-fastest performance in the 200 individual medley at 2:01.38. Two ninth-place performances were achieved as well, with Katya Hulse finishing the 50 backstroke time trial in 25.93 and Sophie Scoville hitting the wall in 23.05 in the 50 freestyle.
Prelims
Competition opened with the 500 freestyle, where Victoria Schreiber and Cher Patrick qualified for finals. Schreiber earned 14th with her 4:53.70 performance, and Patrick clocked a time of 4:55.51, placing 22nd.
Following that event, Lucy Warnick and Brinley Knoll competed in the 200 individual medley and qualified for finals. Warnick earned 12th, finishing in 2:01.19, and Knoll finished in 2:01.64, placing 16th.
The third event of prelims was the 50 freestyle, which saw Tatum Cooley, Lily Flint and Sophie Scoville qualify for finals. Flint led the Cougars with a 20th-place finish in 22.97. Cooley followed in 21st in 21.98, and Scoville wrapped things up for BYU with a 23rd-place finish in 23.05.
Finals
In the 500 freestyle final, Schreiber placed 14th, finishing in 4:53.70. Patrick also claimed 22nd, hitting the wall in 4:57.49.
Knoll secured her top-10 program finish in the 200 individual medley in finals, clocking a time of 2:01.38 and earning 14th overall. Warnick finished the event in 2:00.60, placing 12th.
Scoville earned her top-10 BYU performance in the 50 freestyle in 23.06 while earning 20th place. Flint (23.08) and Cooley (23.12) then followed in 21st and 23rd.
Diving
BYU dive competed in the 1-meter event, with Brooklyn Goeckeritz leading the Cougars with a 17th-place finish at 238.15. Aubryn Ordyna followed in 31st with a total score of 213.50 and Sophia DeBergh in 33rd at 210.80.
Despite the performances, BYU’s scores fell short of finals qualifications.
