Cougars place 10th in Betsy Rawls Invitational

AUSTIN, Texas — BYU women’s golf (338-305-315–958) capped off the Betsy Rawls Invitational in 10th at 92-over par at UT Golf Club Tuesday. 

The Cougars carded a 27-over-par final round on their way to a 10th-place finish.

Host Texas (304-289-285–878) claimed the team victory on its home course at 14-over par. The Longhorns had the individual winner in addition to two more players finishing in the top-10. Texas held the lowest scoring average on every hole and led all teams in made birdies with 40 in the event. Arkansas (316-292-291–899) took the runner-up spot at 35-over par. Oklahoma (318-301-285–904) leapfrogged LSU for third and ended with 40-over par. LSU (320-293-298–911) fell to fourth with 47-over par on its scorecard. Pepperdine (326-298-290–914) rounded out the top-5 at 50-over par. 

Lily McCauley (79-77-77–233), posted a -over-par round three to earn her eighth top-25 finish of her BYU career. McCauley ended with a share of 22nd at 17-over par.

Maria Jose “MJ” Barragan (82-79-76–237) concluded play tied for 35th at 21-over par after recording a 4-over-par final round. 

Whitney Banz (87-76-81–244) finished Tuesday tied for 54thst at 28-over par.

Kanyanol (Naji) Aramkul (90-79-81–250) carded a 34-over-par to put her tied for 63rd. Berlin Long (94-73-84–251) tied for 67th at 35-over par.

BYU will take the next few weeks to prepare for the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic in Maricopa, Arizona at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club April 7-8.
