MARICOPA, Ariz. — BYU women’s golf (285-291-285–861) tied for second place in the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic after a 3-under-par final round on Tuesday at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club.
“It was nice to see birdies by each of the girls this week,” head coach Carrie Roberts said. “It was a team effort, and we are proud of the effort we put forth this week.”
Round three saw the Cougars duplicate their score in round one to maintain their position in second. BYU’s runner-up finish marked the best overall team finish of the season, while having four players finish inside the top-25.
Iowa State (277-286-275–838) sealed the team crown after putting up a 13-under-par final round. The Cyclones had a player take the individual title and led the field in average scoring on each hole, made birdies and fewest bogeys. Knotted up with the Cougars was Sacramento State (292-288-281–861) at 3-under par, including a 7-under-par round three to help it leapfrog two spots. Grand Canyon (292-292-282) and UNLV (296-286-284) ended the event with a share of fourth at 2-over par to round out the top-5 finishers.
Lily McCauley (76-70-70–216) notched her season-best finish with a share of 13th at even par. This is the best placement of the senior’s BYU career since she tied for 12th in the USF Invitational in 2025. McCauley earned her third top-15 finish as a Cougar.
Ava Schroeder (67-79-71–217) bounced back from round two and carded a 1-under par on Tuesday. Schroeder tied for 17th at 1-over par for the tournament, the highest she has finished since securing eighth place at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational.
Whitney Banz (70-75-73–218) and Maria Jose “MJ” Barragan (72-73-73–218) tied each other for 19th at 2-over par.
Kanyanol (Naji) Aramkul (81-73-71–225) matched her teammate Berlin Long (74-73-78–225) for 55th at 9-over par. Long competed in this event as an individual.
Playoff golf is up next for the Cougars as they set their sights on the Big 12 Championship in Dallas, Texas at Dallas Athletic Club on April 23-25.
