Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico...parents are Jaime and Marie...majoring in international business...has one brother, Carlos...has been playing volleyball since the sixth grade.
At BYU
2001:A member of the 2001 NCAA National Championship team ... played in 64 games as a sophomore ... ranked fifth on the BYU roster with over 150 kills on the season ... hit nearly .315 against nationally-ranked opponents ... recorded double digits in kills in four matches on the season, including a season-high 15 kills against 12th-ranked Pacific on March 31 ...against the Tigers, produced 15 kills on 19 attempts for a season-best .579 average ... credited with 35 blocks on the season, as well as 62 digs.
2000: Played in 67 games as a sophomore...recorded 269 kills on the season, averaging 4.01 kills per game...produced 10 or more kills in 13 matches on the season, including four matches with 20 or more kills...posted a career-high 24 kills against Long Beach State (Feb. 2)...tallied 104 digs on the season, including two matches with 10 digs...recorded 69 blocks on the season, including a season high eight blocks against Pepperdine (Feb. 5) and Loyola Marymount (Feb. 12).

Before BYU
Attended Colegio Marista High School...played volleyball for Coach Juan Aviles...a member of the league championship team...was named the team's most valuable player and selected to the all-star team...a member of the junior national championship team in 1994 and third place in 1997...received All-America honors in 1996...a member of the NORCECA National Championship team in 1996.
