Before BYU
- Graduated from Manteca High School where she was named MVP from 1980-1983
- In 1980, she won the California State Championship and the Pacific Coast National Junior Championship title in girls' 14s
- Repeated the Pacific Coast victory at the 16s level in 1981 and 1982 and was ranked 20th in 16s
- Named to an Outstanding Prep Athlete of Stanislaus County for 1981, the only sophomore to receive an award that year
- Won high school sectionals in 1980, 81 and 83, and captured the 1982 Fiesta Bowl Junior Championship in girls' 18s
- She was named Prince High School All-America
