An honorable-mention All-American in 2007, Young is a 6-foot-6 swingman who was named the Mountain West Conference Player of the Year after leading the Cougars in both scoring and rebounds as a senior. He was second on the team in shooting and rebounding in 2005-06 while ranking third in scoring and leading BYU in rebounds in 2005 after transferring from South Plains College in Levelland, Texas. Young started 63 games in his three-year Cougar stint and finished ranked 33rd all-time in career scoring at BYU with 1,068 points. His 590 points during his senior campaign ranks 15th all-time. A strong defender with excellent post moves, he has a good mid-range game and is an effective slasher.
