PROVO, Utah — In its inaugural campaign as members of the Big 12 Conference, BYU softball picked up a program-high three Top 10 wins and finished sixth in the league, earning a first-round bye at the Big 12 Championship.
2024 Season Summary
The Cougars began the year in Honolulu, winning the University of Hawai'i's Paradise Classic, including with a convincing win over Ole Miss and come-from-behind victory against the host Rainbow Wahine that featured a 3-run, 2-out home run by Mililani Mauka, Hawai'i native Ailana Agbayani.

On a cool March Saturday afternoon in Provo, BYU picked up the program's first Big 12 win, beating Texas Tech 10-8, led by a sixth-inning Maddie Udall grand slam.
The Cougars snapped a five-game losing streak two weeks later with an 11-8 upset win over No. 4/6 Oklahoma State, backed by a pair of grand slams from Hailey Morrow and Huntyr Ava, as well as an Agbayani solo shot.
BYU won the first Big 12 series in program history a weekend later after walking it off against Houston in a nine-inning thriller. Freshmen pitchers Gianna Mares and Kate Dahle combined to pitch 6 2/3 innings in the upset victory.

With a 3-0 shutout in the series finale, the Cougars locked up the No. 6-seed in the conference tournament and secured their 23rd 30-win season, and head coach Gordon Eakin's 21st.
