Mother is Nancy Nead... married Aug. 5, 2000 to the former Summer Theobald and they have one son, Max... younger brother, Kelley, plays tight end for University of Idaho... served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Omaha, Neb., from July 1997-99... recruited by Kansas State, Arizona State, Arizona, Miami (Fla.), Oregon State, Colorado and Temple.

In 2002: Named as preseason first-team All-MWC selection by the league's media, Sporting News, Athlon Sports and Phil Steele ... ranked as he sixth top tight end in the country by the Sporting News and ranked 22nd by Phil Steele.
In 2001: Listed as the starter in all 14 games... earned both Honorable-Mention All-MWC and Media All-MWC honors... received coaches awards for his performances against Tulane and Air Force... credited with 22 receptions for 266 yards as a junior... recorded five touchdowns on the season, including a season-high two TDs against Tulane in his first-ever game at BYU... recorded a season-high four receptions for 49 yards against Air Force... had at least one reception in eight straight games to end the season... averaged 12. 1 yards per reception.
Before BYU
A four-year letterwinner at Teton High School... graduated in 1995... led team to a 16-4 record in final two seasons and a third-place finish in the state tournament as a senior... earned all-state honors as a junior and senior at both wide receiver and linebacker... also earned all-state honors in basketball as a senior, leading Teton High School to the state championship.
Earned Junior College All-America honors at Ricks College... a first-team All-Western State Football League selection and Junior College All-American as a sophomore.
