Before BYU:
- Earned All-State Academic honors for three years
- Graduated top 10 percent in his class
- Helped his Columbine High School to the semifinals of the state playoffs after clinching the league championship with a 12-1 record
- Named to the 2015 CHSAA/Max Preps All-State First Team, Colorado Preps 5A All-State First-Team and Denver Post All-Colorado team
