Playing Career
- Played offensive line for the University of Minnesota, appearing in 34 games from 2021-2023
- Transferred to Minnesota in 2021 from Utah State, where he played in 23 games in three years (including the 2020 Covid-shortened season)
- In 2020, played in all six games as a redshirt sophomore at Utah State after earning Athlon Sports Fourth-Team All-Mountain West preseason honors
- In 2019, started all 13 games at right guard as a redshirt freshman and finished the season playing 889 snaps
- In 2018, played in four games before redshirting
- Earned Academic All-Big Ten honors in 2022, Academic All-Mountain West recognition in 2020 and was named a Mountain West Scholar-Athlete in 2018

- Hometown: South Jordan, Utah
- Son of Kevin and Randi Shaw
- Father, Kevin, played professional baseball and spent time with the Kansas City Royals and Cincinnati Reds organizations.
- Has two siblings (Ty and Bella)
- Brother, Ty, played college football at Utah State and was an offensive lineman
- Karter and Ty both started on the Utah State offensive line in 2019 and were the only pair of brothers to start on the offensive line in division one college football that year
