Daniel Jones has been a member of the BYU women's volleyball coaching staff since Feb. 9, 2024. He works specifically with the outside/opposite hitters as well as the liberos, to go along with some offensive responsibilities.
In his first season with the Cougars, BYU finished No. 34 nationally in team hitting percentage, with outside hitter Claire Little being named both an AVCA and VolleyballMag.com All-America Honorable Mention. She was recognized on the 2024 AVCA All-West and All-Big 12 First Team, while fellow outside hitter Elli Mortensen earned a Big 12 All-Rookie nod.
Jones came to Provo after spending the 2023 season as an assistant coach at UNLV, coaching setters and assisting in offensive game plan development and execution. Prior to his time with the Rebels, he was the head coach at Montana State from 2017 to 2022, where he led the Bobcats to three-straight winning seasons and six-consecutive double-digit win seasons.
While at Montana State, he coached 14 all-conference selections, 18 academic all-conference team selections, a libero of the year and freshman of the year. Jones also spent two years in Bozeman as an assistant coach, the 2014 season as an assistant at Utah Valley, and was the director of operations at the University of Utah from 2010 to 2014.
Born in Melbourne, Australia, Jones was raised in New Zealand and earned his degree in education from the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand. He married Lacee Koelliker, former Utah Valley setter and assistant coach, in 2012. They have four children: Adalee, Kaden, Marra and Quinnlee.
