IRVING, Texas — BYU women's volleyball freshman outside hitter Suli Davis picked up her fifth Big 12 Rookie of the Week nod of the season, the league announced on Tuesday.
Davis led the Cougars with double-digit kills in their pair of wins last week, averaging 4.67 per set. The freshman posted her team-leading ninth double-double in the BYU's win at No. 23 Colorado, and was a dig shy of another against Utah, where she was two kills off of her career high.
A Euless, Texas native, she broke the program's all-time freshman kills record against the Utes, and now has 523 kills on the year. The nation's leading freshman in both kills and kills per set, Davis added 20 total digs, three assists, three service aces and two blocks on the week.
The award is BYU's sixth weekly honor of the season. Davis was also named Rookie of the Week on Sept. 9, Oct. 7, Oct. 21, Nov. 4 and Nov. 25. Baylor is the only other program in the conference with a repeat rookie honoree. The Bears have been honored six times this year, with three different players earning an award.
The Cougars have now received 10 Rookie of the Week awards since joining the Big 12. Middle blocker Mia Lee (2023) and setter Alex Bower (2024) were both honored twice in their freshmen seasons.
BYU will begin NCAA Tournament play against Cal Poly on Thursday, Dec. 4 at 5 p.m. PST in Los Angeles. View the full Big 12 release at the Conference's website.
