- Majored in communications
Before BYU
- Trained with Hill's Angels in Wheatridge, Colorado for five years
- Competed in Class I, gaining state, regional and national experience
- Placed second at the Colorado State all-around in 1977 and 1978
- Traveled with Hill's Angels to Europe in 1977 and gained international experience
- Competed in the U.S.G.F. nationals in 1976 and 1977
- Competed in the Region III championships for three years
