What is a baseball student manager?
BYU baseball student managers are a very important parts of our program. They serve the program in a variety of ways that allow our players and coaches to focus on preparing for and winning games. Our managers are selfless in their efforts, time, knowledge, skills and their positive attitude to help the program be successful

What are the duties of a student manager?
The main duties include, but are not limited to: 
  • Practice setup and breakdown
  • Assisting with drills and the operation of practice
  • Managing video for games and practice
  • Working with different baseball systems, such as Synergy, Trackman, True Media, etc. 
  • Maintaining locker room spaces and facility management

How do I become a student manager?
• Must be enrolled as a full-time student at BYU
• Understand that by accepting this role, you forfeit your NCAA eligibility
• You do not need to have previous experience in a similar role and you don’t need previous playing experience
• Have a willingness to learn and a positive attitude

What should I expect if I am offered a position?
As a BYU baseball student manager, you can expect to be treated with the utmost respect and as an important member of the program. You can also expect to spend a lot of hours with the program when available and when your academic schedule allows. There are also in-season travel opportunities possibly presented to those who show high levels of commitment, as well as an outstanding understanding of team-oriented skills both on and off the field. 

The BYU baseball student manager position is not a full-time job, but it is a serious commitment and should only be accepted by dedicated individuals who are prepared to put in the time, effort and energy to be present and serve during practices, games and other necessary functions. 

Will I be compensated?
BYU baseball student managers are not compensated in monetary wages, but can expect to receive some team gear, team meals and snacks, and other benefits that come along with being part of the program on a day-to-day basis. Excelling as a manager can also lead to credible references for future jobs, the development of new marketable skills and abilities, as well as learning the ins and outs of a Division I baseball program.
