Before BYU
- Lettered three years in cross country and four in track at A&M Consolidated High School
- Holds her high school's records in cross country at the two mile and 5K distances
- Was cross country district champion
- Holds her high school's track records for the 1600m (5:06), 3200m (10:36), two mile (10:30) and 5K (16:45) distances
- In summer 2005 placed sixth at Nationals for the 2 mile distance with a time of 10:30
- In the 2005 USATF Junior Nationals ran the 5K in 16:45 earning her a third place finish
